Founded in 1988 by cellist Antonio Lysy and his mother Benedetta Origo, the festival blends world-class music with intimate concerts, literary encounters, and cultural gatherings.

Incontri in Terra di Siena Appoints Ettore Causa as Artistic Director
As preparations begin for the 2027 Festival, Incontri in Terra di Siena is delighted to announce the appointment of Ettore Causa as its new Artistic Director.
An internationally acclaimed violist, chamber musician and teacher, Ettore has been part of the Incontri family for many years. A close friend and colleague of Antonio Lysy, he brings a deep understanding of the festival’s unique character, together with an inspiring artistic vision for its future.
Incontri has become one of Europe’s most respected chamber music festivals, celebrated for its artistic excellence and its extraordinary setting in the Val d’Orcia. Over nearly four decades, the festival has welcomed an exceptional community of musicians, including Steven Isserlis, Joshua Bell, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Antony Marwood, Tabea Zimmermann and Maxim Vengerov, among many others.

The 39th Incontri in Terra di Siena Festival will take place from 23 July to 1 August 2027, with the full programme to be announced in the coming months.
